Earth Day: A Day to Celebrate Our Planet

What is Earth Day?

Earth Day is an annual celebration dedicated to raising awareness and inspiring environmental stewardship. First held on April 22nd, 1970, Earth Day was pioneered by Wisconsin Senator, Gaylord Nelson, in an effort to increase public knowledge of pressing environmental issues. The first Earth Day saw a turnout of 20 million Americans, who took to the streets to advocate for environmental protection. Since then, Earth Day has rapidly grown in scope and involvement, with now over 190 countries participating.

Earth Day serves as a powerful reminder that we all share responsibility in protecting our planet, and meaningful change can start with small, collective actions. This year marks the 55th anniversary of Earth Day, a major accomplishment in the ongoing push for a healthier planet.

Earth Day 2025: “Our Power, Our Planet”

Each year, Earth Day centers around a global theme. For 2025, the theme is “Our Power, Our Planet,” a call to recognize the collective power we hold in shaping the planet’s future. Whether it’s through small choices or community-level advocacy, we all play a part in building a greener world.

Want to get involved? Earth Day events are happening across the country throughout the month of April. From festivals, group-clean ups, and environmental conscious teach-ins, there are several ways for everyone to get involved (and most of which are free!). Check with your local governments, museums, and businesses for events happening near you. You can also check out Earthday.org’s event finder to discover nearby celebrations and activities.

Chargie’s mission

At Chargie, we are proud to be part of the movement toward a greener future for generations to come. Our goal is to make EV charging reliable, accessible, and available where drivers need it most. Without dependable and available charging infrastructure, EV ownership can feel risky or even impossible. That’s what Chargie is working to change.

We believe that driving electric should be a viable option for everyone. By expanding charging infrastructure to drivers’ bookends, where they start and end their days, we’re helping remove barriers blocking many from EV adoption.
