In April, Chargie hosted a cohort of students from the Avantus Cleantech Career Academy at our Culver City, CA headquarters. Students aged 16-24 took part in an office tour which included introductions to different departments, demos of electric vehicle chargers, and a showcase of various car models. They also participated in a career panel with Chargie teammates from Product, Engineering, Business Development, Marketing, and Government Affairs to discuss professional paths, interview skills, and what the future holds for the EV industry.
Chargie is a proud employer partner of the academy which was created by Avantus and UNITE-LA. The initiative aims to create educational opportunities and paid work experience for students interested in exploring a future in clean technology. As a partner, Chargie participates in events, mock interviews, mentoring and more.
According to the academy’s website:
- California is expected to create 4 million new jobs fighting climate change over the next two decades.
- Los Angeles leads the nation with the most solar production of any U.S. city and has set a target to be 100% powered by clean energy by 2035.
- Hourly pay for clean energy jobs is nearly 30% above the statewide median wage.
- 1 in 6 clean energy jobs in the United States is based in California.
